Metabolic typing

What is Metabolic Typing (c)?
Metabolic typing (MT) is a cutting edge system for conducting dietary evaluations and for developing nutritional protocols able to identify an individualís genetically-based nutrient and diet requirement. It is considered a holistic approach to weight loss/management because it is person-centred able to resolve may health problems. The rationale behind is to build health from the inside out by uncovering and correcting imbalances in your regulatory homeostatic control systems (i.e., in particular your ANS and oxidative system) by eating foods/nutrients that are right for you. Experts argue that this approach is able to resolve many health problems from obesity, diabetes II, anaemia and hormonal imbalances to poor concentration, mood swings and high blood pressure.

MT Testing Advantages: 1. Know your metabolic type; this will help you to achieve your weight goals. |
There is a wide spread held secular belief that in order to lose weight you somehow have to starve yourself. Well, this has no empirical base. In fact, a drastic reduction in calories is not advisable because the brain will assume that you are in time of famine. This, in turn, will send a red alert to the adrenal glands to release both adrenaline and cortisol to keep you going. That is, eating far fewer calories than your body needs to survive is self-defeating because you are slowing down both your basal metabolic rate (BMR) and resting metabolic rate (RMR). Both of which dictate the rate at which you burn calories/day. Not only that, your body will increase the release of lipogenic (fat storing) and decrease your lipolytic (fat burning) enzymes. Further still, you will be entering into a vicious adrenaline-cortisol-insulin cycle which leads to a depletion of your own muscle mass, liver sugar reserves, excess sugar, bigger/fuller fat cells, increased insulin, body fat, weight gain, over-activation of your SNS, depression and adrenal exhaustion. So you know, not eating enough is just as bad as eating too many CHD.

MT Experts Argue: "There is no such thing as 'healthy diet' that can be universally applied to anyone and everyone, and there never has been such thing because thereís nothing intrinsically healthy or unhealthy about any given food." |
By looking at the obesity pandemic figures on both sides of the Atlantic one could argue that not many people understand links between nutrition, eating habits and health. Perhaps this could explain why the weight loss industry is such a lucrative one. Precisely, marketing groups, campaigners and pharmaceuticals promising us the magic solution are making billions every year out of people's misery. Yes, they are flourishing at the expense of repeated failure of human nature.
There is no denial that society tends to judge people by the way they look, and the social pressure to look fit, thin, young and healthy is almost everywhere including in sports, fashion and the wider media. However, I cannot speak for all but for myself, but given the profound implications that body image has on people's life, self-esteem, and confidence assumptions re healthy eating/weight and lifestyles need to be re-evaluated from a critical and wider perspective. Further, the message that I would like to convey here is that no one should have to live up to an unrealistic image of oneself. Nor should one get trapped into ill-formed secular stereotype beliefs about how fat or thin, and for that matter, how pretty or ugly one ought to be because everything in life is 'relative' and open to interpretation. Instead, one ought to be realistic and be able to see who you are and what you can accomplish within your limits.

Dietary approaches aimed at losing weight can be found everywhere from crash dieting, very low calorie diet and calorie counting groups to meal replacements, food combining and fat-burning supplements. Realistically speaking, there is no such thing as 'magic pill' when comes to losing weight naturally. Thus, any given weight loss approach/program, and for that matter pill or drug, comes with its strengths, weaknesses, flaws and limitations. So, just because a fancy or popular method has worked for an 'x' number of people this does not necessarily mean that it will work or is right for you. Some experts argue that, in order to successfully manage your weight you need to eat according to your metabolic type as well as having a great meal strategy. But, regardless of your metabolic type, skipping meals, eating too many carbohydrates and processed foods leads in Syndrome-X and obesity. |
The general idea behind MT is building and implementing health from within by eating foods and nutrients that are right for your metabolic type. This way you will combat chronic disease because all your glands, cells, tissues and organs will be working in unison. In any case, before you decide to sign up to a weight loss or management program, speak to a qualified consultant (i.e., your GP, nutritionist, endocrinologist, and/or psychologist) should you be unaware of having or been suffering from an underlying health/clinical condition (i.e., diabetes, high/low blood pressure, gland problem or eating disorder) that might be stopping you from achieving your weight goals.
STEPS 1-7: The steps highlighted below might be a good start for people wanting to lose weight who have no medical condition. These steps have helped other people achieving their desired weight loss/management goals.
